I’m starting to get nervous. I start my weekly column on May 31. I’ll do a one month run and they’ll see how I handle it.
Also I need a good blog title for it. I think my column is going to focus on the…
Why don’t you use your tumblr name (self promo is a gd thing = more followers). Otherwise I suggest keeping it simple, seems more impactful to me.
I could.. it’s hard, because the chill spirit isn’t too relevant to the things i’d be posting. I’m allowed to self-promo in my bio that they post at the end of every article so I can post links there.
I like simple. Maybe “ditching diet culture” or something. But it has no snark, and it’s not eye catching. It reads like a cosmo headline with no pull, and that’s what I need to develop (pull, not cosmo, lol)
Okay so I was thinking about it, and if you aren’t sure about what you are 100% going to totally write about, then you may have to keep it generic. Why not a play on words, so double meanings, like,’drop it’ - could mean drop weight, drop the matter/subject, drop the stigma etc. or why not have a question name to engage straight away, like ‘is 3 a crowd?’ - can’t think of a good example right now (sorry). Or why not use a statement like ‘3’S A CROWD’ then in the sub section explain what it means, i.e. ‘MIND, BODY AND…SOCIETY - also applicable for the question - could use that area to answer a question, making it rhetoric and closing so much area for debate.
Sorry if that doesn’t help, let us know the final top 3!!
i know that i’d be most likely blogging about the more mental aspect of exploring the fitness world, like overcoming body image issues and the fear of going to the gym or running outside, talking about diet culture, fitness tips for miserable people, and then other stuff like going to farmer’s markets and the effects of GMO foods and stuff like that.
i think i may have settled on “the adventures of protein princess” or just “protein princess” and then the titles of each article will be like “protein princess and the diet riot” where i’d talk about getting diet culture out of your life and “protein princess minds the (thigh) gap” where i’d talk about genetics and body types and why thigh gaps are dumb, etc. but if anything else jumps out at me, i’ll consider it. :) thanks so much for thinking on this dude! it really helps :)

Also I need a good blog title for it. I think my column is going to focus on the mental struggle of fitness and healthy life, about overcoming body image issues and learning to love yourself, about deconstructing diet culture which I love to do, but I don’t know what to call it. For example, the editor’s column is called “hot to squat” because she’s a trainer. cool, right? Someone else’s is called “Figuring out Fit” which is also cute but the editor said it was more shallow and she’d love for me to add some depth to her section.
I don’t know. I should make mine “The Adventures of Protein Princess in Broland” or something but that’s a little long and ridiculous.
Guys got any good brainstorming ideas??

There’s nothing worse than having to knit something you don’t want to. But it’s a gift and you can’t always knit what you want.
you can’t always knit what you waaa-hant
you can’t always knit what you waaa-hant
but if you try sometimes
you might just find

Converts, when you are learning islam from someone, be sure to learn their bias. You don’t want to learn about deobandis from a maliki and you don’t want to learn about the shia from a salafi.
You can only learn about a belief system from the people who practice it. Have them give you their books, read them, and you decide.
If someone from another school of thought is trying to tell you why others are incorrect then do not trust a pulled quote without a citation to the original source, because people pull quotes out of context to back up false claims all the time. And they often use books that are not renown scholarly works to prove a point and this is problematic as well. Don’t trust anyone to give you information about something they don’t fully understand.
Don’t even trust people who switched between two faith systems to give you facts without bias. I used to be Sunni, don’t ask me about sunnism without expecting a bias from me. Read what I give you and read an opposing viewpoint, read the books I didn’t suggest, then decide for yourself.
And that is how I came to shia beliefs, by reading and not trusting anyone to give me an unbiased truth. Let the facts stand on their own and don’t let anyone force their opinion on you. I’m saying this as a convert of five and a half years. I’ve had to sift through culture, people’s opinions, assumptions, misconceptions and bias for years, and it’s exhausting. The only thing you can really trust are the books, your rationale and pray for Allah to guide you.
